Written by: Ladaska Burton, Marketing Manager—FUNDrive® Digital, January 31, 2020

If you’re “fortunate” enough to live in a part of the country that gets cold in the winter, you’re probably used to your area’s trend towards winter hibernation and inclimate weather that hinders many winter fundraising events. This can wreak havoc on your winter fundraising ideas. But don’t worry, we have some tips to help you pull off a successful FUNDrive® during these winter months.

Snow Day Work Day

The roads are covered in a wintery mix, so nobody is making it to work or school today. What do you do? Consider prepping for your upcoming FUNDrive® the cure to cabin fever. Use this time to clean out the closets and do a little organizing. Make it a family affair and see who can fill the most bags. Don’t forget to share your idea and send out a text, email, or post on social media to alert your team of volunteers and supporters

Bulk Up

Around this time of year, the holidays have passed and closets are filled with new winter coats, boots, and accessories. Encourage supporters to get rid of their old winter gear to give your FUNDrive® a much needed boost. Why the focus on winter items? These items are needed during the winter months when they are most relevant and there’s an added bonus of being heavier which will pay off during your organization’s final weigh in. Inclimate weather action plan

The best way to deal with the unexpected, is to make a plan. If you know your area is prone to inclimate weather and your FUNDrive® is planned during an at risk time, be sure to make a plan. Communicate that plan to your team and include it on marketing materials you pass to your supporters. If you must change a collection event, be sure to have a way to share that information quickly. Plan for Spring

Leverage these snow days and winter breaks to organize your next event. Reach out to your FUNDrive® rep to reserve your drop-off date, design your save the date flyers, and start forming your team.
